The birth of the production line changed history. In 1913, during the 2nd Industrial
Revolution, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for mass
production automobiles. 

 

Prior to the assembly line, auto workers worked as teams to produce a single car, taking more than 12 hours to complete. But the assembly line brought this number down to two-and-a-half hours,2 changing the future of manufacturing and leading to Ford Motor Company’s growth as a frontrunner in the industry.
